Sears Auto Center 250 Fast Facts

  • The Championship Series, which began in 2001, is a living tribute to the 1992 Winston Cup Champion Alan Kulwicki, Dan Duncan, Charlie Campbell and Mark Brooks, son of the late Hooters of America CEO Bob Brooks, who were killed in a plane crash on their way to Bristol, Tennessee on April 1, 1993.
  • Fifty-five drivers have qualified for the season-ending Championship Series. The criterion for qualifying was to be inside the top 30 in points and competed in at least half of the regular-season events.
  • Only two times in the history of the Championship Series has the overall champion come in with less than a No. 1 seeding.
  • This will be the fifth Championship Series event and the 11th Hooters Pro Cup race held at Mansfield Motorsports Park since 2003.
  • The drivers have picked up their first Hooters Pro Cup wins at Mansfield. Derek Kale scored made his first trip to Victory Lane earlier this season at MMP; Joey Logano grabbed his first Hooters Pro Cup win in 2005 at MMP; and Eric Corbett scored his lone Hooters Pro Cup win in 2003.
  • Benny Gordon is the only driver to win from the pole at Mansfield. In 2004, Gordon started from the pole and dominated, leading 146 laps, en route to victory.
  • Bobby Gill’s win in last year’s Championship Series event at MMP was the furthest any winner has come from to grab the victory. Gill started 29th.
  • Joey Logano led just 27 laps in his 2005 win at MMP. That was the least amount of laps led by any winner in the 10 races at MMP. Gordon’s 146 laps led is the most any winner has paced the field.
  • On average, the winner has led 82.2 laps and has a starting average of 9.6.
  • Clay Rogers and Benny Gordon are the only No. 1 seeds to win at Mansfield Motorsports Park. Rogers went onto win the title after his 2006 win, but Gordon finished second in the final standings after his 2004 win at MMP.
